The 3-screw spindle pump is self-priming and one of the oldest and most common of all pump designs. The design with three rotors creates with a spin a barrier between spindles and pump housing so that friction between the units is avoided.

This way a grease film is created inside the unit, so that the medium can efficiently move through the pump and build up a pressure without contact with spindles and pump housing.
